Yearbook: This class of selected junior high students provides basic skills in writing and design for publication. Students apply these skills in the production of the school yearbook.

Chapel Club: Zion Lutheran School gives junior high students worship service leadership opportunities through music and chancel dramas. A group of select students meets once a week during the school day to brainstorm, practice and enhance Chapel worship.

Athletics: Zion Lutheran School offers the opportunity for students to use the athletic talents that God has given them. They compete with Lutheran and other Christian community teams in the Puget Sound area. There is an extra fee for athletics participation. The athletic department offers:

  • 5th and 6th grade basketball, track, soccer and dance/drill
  • 7th and 8th grade flag football, cross-country, cheer, basketball, volleyball, track, soccer, dance/drill and
  • cheerleading

Piano, Guitar and Drum Lessons: For an additional charge, a child may enroll in lessons during the school day. The student must have a strong commitment to learn.

Lutheran Elementary Schools Tournament (L.E.S.T.): The Lutheran Elementary Schools Tournament (L.E.S.T.) is a ministry of Concordia University, Portland in partnership with elementary schools of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod. The L.E.S.T. is based on the value of Christian education that emphasizes the love and praise of God, thankful use of talents and service to others. The primary goal of the L.E.S.T. is to provide an organized structure to promote fun, skill development, fair play and fellowship among Lutheran elementary school youth through academic, fine arts, and recreational activities.

Academic/Science Fair: Students in the 5th grade through 8th grade participate in the Academic/Science Fair each January. The students create visual and written presentations for public display.

6th Grade Outdoor Education: Sixth grade students of Puget Sound Lutheran Schools descend upon Miracle Ranch to celebrate and learn more about God’s creation. This 2-night 3-day outdoor education experience helps build skills and bind friendships. The fee for this program is included in the 6th grade Activity Fee.

7th & 8th Grade Retreat at Lutherwood: Seventh and eighth grade students experience fun and fellowship for two days in the fall. During this time they enjoy swimming, fishing, canoeing, hiking, worship and learning how to develop healthy relationships. The fee for this retreat is included in the 7th and 8th grade Activity Fees.
