Student/Teacher Ratio: 8 to 2 (teacher with Educational Assistant)
School Day: Tuesday & Thursday, 8:30 – 11:15 a.m.
The goal of the Just for Threes class is to help students develop a relationship with Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Much time is spent on spiritual growth and significant emphasis is placed on the socialization of the children. Social development at this age is imperative. We encourage all children to respect others, plan ahead by asking questions, share with others, be kind, courteous, and follow directions, and most importantly, to understand that Jesus loves them.
What will my child do during class time?
Children learn about God’s love through different stories from The Beginner’s Bible. We learn about The Fruit of the Spirit: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control (Galatians 5:22-23).
Children are introduced to letters, numbers and colors. Through the Scholastic curriculum children learn the ABCs, identify word sounds and begin to recognize their names in print. The students visit the school library once a week. They enjoy story time along with checking out books for personal enjoyment.
The children learn to recite numbers, compare and classify groups of objects and identify shapes and patterns.
Teaching children about social studies concepts provide a way to make children aware of the world around them. This allows them to experience how families, communities and our society work together. In order to appreciate our community and the world that God has created, field trips are taken that may include the pumpkin patch or fire station. All field trips are family friendly and parent participation is required.
Physical Education helps to develop coordination and large motor skills. Various exercises, games, and group activities provide learning and practice.
Self-expression is encouraged through words, play dough, markers, paints, crayons, music and other mediums with attention paid to visual detail. The children participate in class songs and Christmas and Easter programs.
